Job Description
Oscar’s Pet Resort is looking for one dog groomer to join our 10 person strong team.  Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and reliable.

Required Education: Grooming Certificate,  High School Diploma

Required Training: Completed a 90 day probationary period and had a review with the manager

Required Skills:
Demonstrate competent grooming skills for dogs and cats
Demonstrate safety regarding all Pet handling & Equipment use
Excellent customer service
Excellent time management (be on time for work and be on time for clients)
Ability to work as a team with fellow employees in the working environment
Computer literate

Responsibilities
Complete daily grooming tasks of baths, nail trimming/grinding, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and hair trim/cut safely for both pet and Groomer
Be competent with dog body language and understanding how fear, anxiety and stress can cause a pet to be aggressive and use safety precautions in handling aggressive pets
Be competent in specific dog breed styles for hair cutting
Be competent in communication to the Customer of their desired service and of any behavior, skin, or hair concerns
Safely use and care for all Grooming equipment (shears, clippers, clipper blades, dryer, tub, grooming table)
Communicate any pet issues (health concerns, behavioral concerns etc.) to manager/supervisor.
Nightly assign grooming schedule for the next day. Have knowledge of any dog with crate anxiety/stress and how to properly manage anxiety/stress issues
Responsible to know Oscar’s Pet Resort General & Grooming Policies and accurately educating customers of policies. This includes staying up to date with Oscar’s Pet Resort web site so accurate direction is given to customers
Be proactive and seek education in any area of incompetence, talk to manager or supervisor for assistance
Maintaining a clean work environment in the Groom shop. Daily/weekly cleaning lists are the responsibility of all Groomers
Responsible for maintaining the Standard of Quality for all Pet Care as evidenced by proper handling using positive reinforcement, as well as maintaining a clean and disinfected environment free of clutter and dirt
Responsible for demonstrating good interpersonal skills with fellow employees and reporting differences to manager when problems cannot be resolved
Adhere to daily schedule and demonstrate good time management for pet efficiency
Responsible for purchasing and maintenance of clippers (OPR will be responsible for cost of blades and sharpening)
Follow up phone call with all new clients as well as any pets that have hair or skin issues to ensure the customer has quality customer service experience as well as pet concerns are followed up by a Vet if indicated

Compensation is commission based with percentages between 40 – 50 % depending on experience and job skills. All compensation is assessed by the General Manager.  Part time receives PTO. Full time receives PTO. All staff eligible for paid continuing education and discount on pet services and retail products.

See Section 5 of Employee Handbook for Employee Classification. Part time expected to work 20+ hours per week and Full time expected to work 40+ hours per week. Based on company and client needs, a Groomer may be asked to extend any shift as needed (i.e. Boarding, Daycare or Walk Ins).

Working with dogs is not easy! People sometimes think we spend our day cuddling with dogs, but that is not often the case. Instead it is intense understanding of dog language, firm leadership, and having the stamina to handle any and all breeds and sizes. We proudly employ a team of A+ Players. Are you one?
