Overview
Our veterinary teaching hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Technician (students welcome to apply!) with an upbeat attitude to complement our outstanding, collaborative team. We are an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited small animal practice that has been in business for over 70 years and is led by 2 veterinarians.
Our incredible RVTs can expect to:
-Treat every pet and their owners with respect, compassion, and care at the highest level
-Confidently educate our clients on their pet’s health and their doctor’s recommendations
-Perform basic nursing care, including patient monitoring, restraint and handling, providing treatments and medications, entering charges and charting, and updating medical records
-Utilize their knowledge of common diseases and conditions to respond appropriately to the unique needs of pets on an individual basis
-Administer SQ, IM, and IV injections under the order of our DVMs, including IV fluid therapy
-Collecting samples and running in-house bloodwork as well as interpreting cytology results
-Perform anesthetic nursing care including IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic monitoring
-Perform routine dental prophylaxis including full mouth dental radiographs
-Take diagnostic radiographs with care for proper positioning and safety
-Fill prescribed medications and educate our clients on proper dosing instructions
-Maintain and clean our equipment
-Love their job and become lifelong owners
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:-Nursing care
-Surgical prep and anesthetic monitoring
-Pharmacy and pharmacology- knowledge of and administration of drugs
-Laboratory (cytology, bloodwork, processing samples, etc)
-Client education
-Other duties as assigned
