Overview
This position requires a candidate with at least a high school diploma, working toward finishing or having finished a Veterinary Assistant program. The work week is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, all ten hour days. Some weeks include a travel clinic where we set up in other counties to spay/neuter cats.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Proper cleaning of cages, feeding and watering hospital patients and adoptable cats
- Safe handling of dogs and cats before, during and after surgery
- Assist with induction and prep when needed
- Ability to follow directions to ensure smooth patient recovery post surgery.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Give IM and SQ injections as well as SQ fluids when in recovery
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
- With instruction, wrap spay packs to be autoclaved for next day
- Have own car
