Prairie View Animal Hospital is proud to be a locally-owned small animal hospital in Grimes, Iowa. We are seeking candidates to fill a veterinary technician position to add to our team. A minimum of 1 year experience working as a veterinary technician or assistant is required. Our practice embraces Fear-Free techniques. We utilize our technicians to their fullest extent, providing a rewarding and fun environment with opportunities to develop new skills and interests. Our practice is equipped with a therapy laser, surgical laser, dental radiography, ultrasound, rigid endoscope, and in-house laboratory machines, allowing us to treat and work with a variety of cases and species.

Duties include:

  • Patient care
  • Client communication and education
  • Facilitation of out-patient and in-patient appointments
  • Performing lab work and other diagnostics
  • Anesthesia induction and monitoring
  • Surgical preparation of patients
  • Performing dental radiographs and cleanings, including charting and probing
  • Working with veterinary assistants to ensure timely and accurate filling of prescriptions
  • Maintaining detailed medical records

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic animal anatomy and physiology, excellent animal handling skills, proficiency in taking vital signs, administering medications, assisting with surgeries, performing basic laboratory procedures, strong communication skills to interact with clients, and a compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners.

Required Education Level : High School Diploma or Equivalent
