Overview
As a Low Voltage Access Control Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems and cameras. You will work under the guidance of experienced technicians to learn the necessary skills and knowledge related to low voltage wiring, access control hardware and software, and electronic security systems. This position offers hands-on training and opportunities for growth in the field of electronic security.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the installation of access control systems including wiring, mounting hardware, and configuring control panels.
Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with access control systems, including hardware and software components.
Support senior technicians in conducting site surveys to assess customer needs and develop installation plans.
Aid in the integration of access control systems with other security components such as surveillance cameras and access control units.
Assist in the programming and configuration of access control software to set up user permissions, schedules, and access levels.
Learn to test and verify the functionality of access control systems to ensure proper operation.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including inventory management and equipment maintenance.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure personal safety and the safety of team members and customers.
Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly with supervisors and customers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic understanding of electrical systems and low voltage wiring preferred.
Strong interest in technology and electronic security systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for travel to job sites
