Overview

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the diesel and gas-powered vehicle fleet at the Mill in Ward Cove. At our summer destination for cruise ship guests and locals, your work makes a positive impact on the experience for everyone here.

Working in our close-knit team, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Repairing and maintaining diesel buses (i.e. bluebird school buses)
– Applying federal, state and local safety standards
– Keeping the shop facilities supplied and ready
– Research repair solutions using industry software solutions and working with industry experts
– Performing daily inspections with ability to troubleshoot and work on solutions
– Document and maintain accurate work orders, repairs, driver vehicle inspection reports, part orders and DOT inspections

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Applicable mechanic training and certification. Maintain safe work environments and follow safety procedures. Read and understand repair and maintenance codes. Safe application of all repair and maintenance duties. Provide own tools upon employment. Capacity to work well with a team and alone in communications and problem-solving. Flexibility in work hour (possible on-call).
