ZimmVet has an opening in our Veterinary Technician in Training Program

This program is exclusive and one of a kind in the veterinary industry. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted into a Veterinary Technology (Technician) program either on-line or as an in-person program. If you are not enrolled in a program you will not be considered for this position. The enrolled program must be on the list of approved schools for obtaining your Minnesota Veterinary Technician license. Employees will stay in the role until their courses are completed to obtain their Veterinary Technician degree (usually two years).

With our Technician in Training program employees work side by side with certified veterinary technicians and doctors to learn all of the hands on skills needed to be employed as a certified veterinary technician. Skills are gradually build upon once a solid foundation is achieved. Access to on-line continuing education that align with current tasks help build a solid knowledge foundation.

Tasks include: Pet restraint, performing lab tests (blood, urine, fecal), packaging lab tests for send out, ear cleaning, nail trimming, anal glands, blood draws, administering vaccinations and injection, performing Laser therapy, cytology interpretation, anesthetic monitoring, IV catheter placement, dental cleaning, dental x-rays, checking in and out patients, invoicing, answering phones, managing appointments with clients, among others.

Areas of learning are divided into modules and when each module is completed raises are given and you may be scheduled to work in those departments independently.

Part or Full Time hours available. Typical Schedule would be 8am-6pm M-F, Split days would be 8am-1pm and 1pm-6pm. Rotating Saturdays once per month 8am-1pm.

Completion of this unique hand-on program can lead to hire as an uncertified or certified veterinary technician at ZimmVet or hire at a higher starting wage at many other clinics.

Salary: $13.00 – $17.00 per hour

It is now the longest standing veterinary clinic in Zimmerman. Upon Dr. Damer’s retirement, Dr. Krenz purchased the business in 2008.
