Veterinary Assistant – West Mountain Animal Hospital – Bennington, VT Full-time or Part-time | Starting at $15/hr (based on experience)

West Mountain Animal Hospital (WMAH) in beautiful Bennington, Vermont is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our highly respected, AAHA Accredited, Gold Standard Feline-Friendly, Fear-Free practicing hospital!

What You’ll Do:

· Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatments

· Monitor and care for hospitalized and post-surgical patients

· Restrain pets safely for procedures (blood draws, nail trims, exams)

· Assist with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal analysis)

· Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, exam rooms, and treatment areas

· Maintain surgical instrument sterilization and hospital cleanliness

· Administer medications under veterinarian or technician supervision

· Feed, bathe, and care for animals in recovery or boarding

· Support front desk operations including answering phones and assisting clients

· Deliver excellent customer service to pet owners with compassion and professionalism

 

Schedule:

· Full-time or part-time opportunities available

· Flexible scheduling with rotating Saturday shifts

Compensation:

· Starting at $15/hr, based on experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Passionate about animal care and veterinary medicine

· Prior experience in veterinary medicine preferred, but not required – we are willing to train!

· A self-starter who is dependable, hardworking, and a team player

· Someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals — even when they're stressed, ill, or scared

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the role (lift up to 40 lbs with or without assistance; stand, walk, bend, and squat frequently)
