Why work at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle?

The Neurology Service at the Veterinary Specialty Center is a diverse group of assistants, licensed veterinarian technicians and doctors ranging from residents in training to board certified Neurologists.  We are committed to providing excellent care for our patients and clients and find this is best accomplished in an environment where we foster learning, function as a team while still encouraging autonomy and accountability, and make sure to laugh at least a little bit every day.  Working with the Neurology Service provides exposure to a mix of chronic, long term cases where you can establish ongoing rapport with the clients and follow a pet’s progress over time alongside an aspect of acute, emergency medicine where we must act quickly to restore a pet’s ability to walk or even save their lives.  No two days in Neurology are exactly the same!

While every member of our team will start with a unique skill set, all members of our staff have the opportunity to spend ample time working hands on with our patients providing basic physical rehabilitation and nursing care for our hospitalized pets and in turn teaching our clients how to provide similar care at home.  Our LVTs are encouraged to master skills such as ultrasound guided cystocentesis, placement of indwelling urinary catheters and arterial lines. As an LVT with our service you will have the opportunity to grow your anesthesia skills under the guidance of our senior staff and the doctors of the Neurology and Critical Care teams.  Over time your duties will progress from working with otherwise healthy pets with signs of pain to more complex cases with brain disease.  You will be trained to work in the operating room with the opportunity to use advanced techniques such as constant rate drug infusions as well as working with specialized MRI compatible monitoring equipment. We look forward to welcoming you to our growing team!
