Overview

Under the supervision of the lead technician nursing care will be administered to hospitalized large animal patients, performing basic treatments and procedures, emergency management and teaching.

Responsibilities include:

Provide nursing care to emergency and in-house patients, and share rounds with the incoming shift.

Perform all admissions and discharges for animals under their care.

Place patient charges in EMR on a daily basis, and maintain patient medical records.

Communicate patient needs with clinicians and colleagues.

Assist with research projects.

Assist in teaching both veterinary and veterinary technician students.

Escort clients to their animal for visitation.

Veterinary Technician A: Must be a credentialed CVT, LVT, RVT or enrolled in an accredited veterinary technology program and eligible to sit the Veterinary Technician National Exam after graduation or a graduate of an accredited veterinary technology program and eligible to take the VTNE.

Veterinary Technician B: Must be a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, LVT, RVT or equivalent).

Hours: 9:00 pm – 7:30 am with a 30% shift differential. Every third weekend rotation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

We are seeking applicants with good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively are required. Must have excellent communication skills both orally and written. Horse handling skills are preferred, but not required. Must be able to work well with others. Computer skills required. 0-1 years of experience working in a clinical setting required. A valid driver's license is required.

Located on a beautiful campus of approximately 700 acres in Chester County, Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center has one of the largest caseloads of any academic large animal hospital in the nation. This position is located at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, PA (Chester County) which is approximately 33 miles outside of Philadelphia. Please note that no public transportation is available at this location.
