Overview

We are seeking a qualified individual to join the team in the role of Physical Therapy Biller.

This individual is a highly skilled individual, who is knowledgeable in outpatient physical and occupational therapy insurance procedures. The Physical Therapy Biller will be responsible for billing, collecting, and follow-up on all accounts to obtain reimbursement on all therapy charges from patient treatment(s). This position will assist patients by gathering and verifying patient demographics, financial data, and insurance coverage. They will also strategically manage and ensure insurance authorization and verifications are correctly acquired.

Non-negotiables of this position:

Strong communication skills – focus on following up with patients and insurance carriers
12 complete months of Medical Billing and Collections experience, physical therapy preferred
High school diploma

Minimum Qualifications:

Process all therapy patient accounts from initial visit to discharge and until the patient balance is zero.
Responsible for reporting, tracking, and communicating of the progress of patient accounts to both supervisor and revenue cycle team.
Proactively communicate with supervisor and leadership regarding problems and/or issues.
Actively research and investigate denials to the point of resolution, as permissible by contract and law.
Review provider contracts to ensure proper reimbursement and patient coverage.
Uphold the highest level of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
Knowledge and compliance with regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor when communicating with patients, referral sources, insurance providers, payors, and team members.
Initiate phone calls to insurance providers to research and investigate denials and unpaid claims.
Knowledge and understanding of commercial and federal insurance
Knowledge and understanding of authorizations/verifications
Understands the importance of upfront collections
Understand the importance of an effective and highly efficient workflow ensuring authorizations and claims are obtained, tracked, and processed properly.
Experience with various healthcare EMRs
Minimum 1-2-year(s) experience with Physical & Occupational Therapy Billing preferred
Knowledge of specific therapy modifiers and billing methodologies
Understanding of CPT codes and ICD 10 coding
Knowledge of the principles and practices of physical & occupational therapy billing, out-of-network benefits, etc.

Qualifications/Skills:

Perform the daily activities of outpatient therapy biller for one or multiple locations.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to learn, utilize, and maintain multiple EMR systems
Identify and report trends and prior authorization issues relating to insurance verification and authorizations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
