Our centers are located in Newark, Irvington, Union Township, Roselle and Elizabeth. We are seeking Early Head Start Infant/Toddler Teachers to worked in one of our Newark centers.

The Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for preparing lesson plans which include indoor and outdoor activities specifically designed on each infant’s/toddler’s own needs, interests and schedules. The EHS Teacher provides multicultural materials and activities, family style meals and documents parent communications regarding the infant/toddlers’ functions and activities. The EHS Teacher maintains constant contact with families and works with all other agencies (Health, Nutrition, Parent Education and resources referred) to integrate services into the family setting.

The EHS Teacher will create and manage an appealing, warm, and challenging environment for Infants and Toddlers, inclusive to children with special needs. He/She organizes the classroom according to developmental levels and the individual needs of each infant/toddler. The EHS Teacher will ensure that diaper changing and toilet training functions are safe, sanitary, and developmentally appropriate. The Teacher relates to infants/toddlers in a calm, caring, nurturing, and soothing manner. The Infant/Toddler Teacher also conducts developmental screenings and assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) OR Degree in Early Childhood Education
    All licensing and certification trainings as required by the state of NJ
  • Principles in techniques of infant and toddler development
  • Teaching Methods and Training Practices for Infants/Toddlers
