Position Overview

The Daycare Manager has all the responsibility of the patient’s everyday needs in the daycare facility as well as managerial responsibilities for the rest of the daycare staff.  This position is required to have the following personal traits: passion, communication, example setter, forward thinking, self-confidence, and humility.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Provides compassionate care to daycare clients.
Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks.
Receives animals checking in and is responsible for their proper identification and for recording all belongings and medications.
Communicates with the Veterinary departments to ensure all services have been completed and documented prior to discharge.
Releases animals to their owners, notifying owners of any necessary information regarding their daycare experience, and ensures that every animal released is clean and properly groomed prior to their release.
Has the ability to communicate with owners and make them feel comfortable with leaving their pet(s) in our care.
Can follow a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all facilities + equipment
Can feed each animal as the owner has requested, and records appetites, any abnormalities, and bathroom habits daily.
Understands the importance of prioritizing tasks and keeps oneself busy and productive during work shifts.
Assists with maintaining laundry for the daycare and Veterinary departments.
Maintains the grounds of the day care area, including waste disposal and disinfection of playroom and playroom play equipment.
Can give baths and brush out patients.
Can collect fecal specimens and administer Bordetella vaccines.
Can give facility tours while highlighting features that differentiate us from other kennels and hospitals in our area.
Can recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal behavior.
Can assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint.
Maintains the cleanliness of the daycare each day; understands the importance of safety when cleaning animal waste in the facility.
Understands and carries out the weekly and monthly chore list to maintain the daycare cleanliness, preventative maintenance, and overall appearance of the facility.
Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Managerial Duties

Supervise and evaluate daycare staff.
Responsible for filling out employee evaluation forms and assisting in evaluation meetings.
Creating and Maintaining Daycare Schedule.
Maintains the stock of cleaning agents and janitorial supplies.
Maintains the supply of house food, beds, blankets, bowls, leashes, etc.
Coordinates any facility repairs as needed.
Ensure the facility is providing clients with an environment that feels comfortable before, during, and after daycare of the pet(s).
Recognize, record, and report important information about daycare clients conditions.
Communicates with Veterinary staff to ensure all daycare services are completed and documented for clients at discharge.

Qualifications:

18+ Years Old
High School Degree
Animal care background required
Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
Can work unaffected in an environment where dogs are barking.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays to be considered for a management position.
Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals and food bags (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs).  Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.
Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made.
Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively and to maintain a calm tone in all situations.
Time Management:  Managing one’s time and the time of other daycare staff members.
Instructing: Teaching others how to perform a task.
Service Orientation: Always willing to help with job shadow, volunteer, or various organization programs.
