Overview

Port City Veterinary Hospital is currently recruiting to fill veterinary technician roles in our specialty and emergency departments.  As a Veterinary Technician at Port City, your duties would include, but not limited to:

  • Provide outstanding client care to maintain long-term relationships with clients  ·
  • Triaging incoming patients and managing care throughout their visit.
  • Participating with DVM’s in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Obtain and process laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates.
  • Utilize different modalities of radiology imaging for patient assessment.
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
  • Providing empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient’s hospitalization.
  • Maintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care for all patients.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including but not limited to the cleanliness of laundry, floors, and cages.
  • Assist with basic animal restraint.
  • Provide basic animal husbandry and hygiene between patients.
  • Ensure proper stocking of medical supplies and janitorial needs.

Anticipated Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts or three 12-hour shifts
  • Rotating Weekends
  • Holiday assignments are based on seniority

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Veterinary Technology Associates or Bachelors degree, RVT, LVT, or CVT preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Reasonable understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes.
- Maintain a positive outlook and ability to work well in stressful situations
- The ability to deliver exceptional client service is a priority

Required Education Level : Associate's Degree
