Overview
The Louisiana SPCA Wellness Practice Manager oversees the daily operations and staff management of veterinary services to the public. The LASPCA’s Community Clinic serves as a fee for service and donor subsidized primary care facility, seeking to increase access to high quality veterinary care for underserved communities through incremental medicine.
The Wellness Practice Manager is responsible for working under the leadership of the Chief Veterinarian and in partnership with the Shelter/Surgical Medical Manager to maximize the impact of the clinic programs, provide mentorship to the veterinary technicians and reception team members, creating a unified set of customer service practices, cultivating a culture of learning, and promoting positive and healthy environment for team members, animals and community members that we serve.
The duties of this role include staff scheduling, managing inventory for onsite retail as well as clinical use, and ensuring exceptional customer service is provided through every interaction. Additionally, the Wellness Practice Manager is responsible for training staff, implementing clinic policies, and managing the practice management software.
Responsibilities
- Inspires exceptional customer service by modeling active listening, respectful communication and problem-solving skills.
- Trains and develops team members skills and competencies.
- Ensures clinic team members have the training and support needed to effectively communicate to clients the estimated cost of services and match clients with available payment tools aligned with the client’s situation or needs.
- Maintains clean data by overseeing timely and accurate client data entry, payment and legal medical record keeping.
- Monitors and evaluates operational impact by generating statistical analysis, recommending and implementing improvements, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective operations.
- Delivers daily, weekly and monthly reporting and dashboard metrics, using the database to run and reconcile financial, service and sales reports
- Works in conjunction with CFO (Finance team) Tracks Wellness Clinic expenditures not to exceed the established expense budget by carefully analyzing run rates, ordering and managing pharmaceutical orders within existing contracts, and ensuring costs are accurately tracked. This role also works with team members to promote retail sales online and at the clinic.
- Manage and align retail products offered based on recommendations from Chief Veterinarian
- Analyze and monitor daily sales in conjunction with trends in scheduling, and community needs.
- Create and manage KPI’s to inform and create monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.
- Manage and plan community-based events (Vaccine events) and partnerships.
- Works in collaboration with the Development and Communications teams to support fundraising efforts and campaigns, such as providing impact stories and reports resulting in financial support.
Compensation:
$45,000-$65,000 annually based on years of experience; additional relocation and sign-on bonuses may be available

Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Business or related field; and/or equivalent veterinary or medical clinic management experience
- 4 years of experience managing 4 or more direct reports
- 4 years of experience in veterinary or medical clinic setting
Desired Skills/Qualifications
- Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM)
- Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of veterinary care/animal health
Physical Requirements
- Able to work around all animals. Not allergic to animals or nuts;
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds; stand, sit, push and pull heavy objects; bend, twist, reach; perform strenuous physical activities including frequent walking and running, standing, bending and stooping
- Must be able to work with industrial strength cleaners and disinfectants.
