POSITION OVERVIEW
Veterinary assistants are responsible for assisting doctors throughout the day.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow a daily schedule for cleaning, sanitizing and stocking exam rooms
- Greeting client & preparing them for appt. Access building, weighing pet, entry into exam room, and getting medical history
- Support doctor in exam with patients and responsible for assisting technicians with any treatments needed (nail trims, anal glands, etc.)
- Prepare vaccinations for doctor appointments
- Adequately hold fractious and aggressive animals in a manner that prevents injury to staff, client and patient
- Filling veterinary medications
- Any client communications directed by doctors and/or veterinary technicians including medical records
- Provides compassion and empathy to our clients and patients
- Basic laundry & kennel maintenance
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain pleasant and cooperative relationships with other employees and clients
- Genuinely enjoy working with animals even when they are ill or in pain
- Lift and carry cats and dogs weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Walk, bend or stand for extended periods of time
