Indy Paws is a progressive, full-service general hospital in Indianapolis that is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician or experienced Assistant to join our team. Indy Paws is a hospital with a family-oriented focus. Our team works closely to provide clients and patients’ to provide low-stress, “family Doctor” experience every visit. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re looking for:

Our ideal applicant has graduated from an accredited school and actively holds an Indiana license or will be eligible to go through the testing and licensing procedure. Ideal candidate is a team player, with a desire to provide excellent care to our clients and their pets. Previous clinical and surgical experience a plus! We are looking for the right person to grow with us!

The primary duties of our Veterinary Technicians & Assistants include assisting the Veterinarian during exam visits, performing daily patient care & monitoring, surgical/dental assisting, electronic medical record-keeping and routine laboratory procedures. Our ideal applicant is an RVT with at least 1-2 years of experience with veterinary medicine or animal care and possess the following characteristics:

Technical skills: venipuncture, medication administration, placing intravenous catheters, obtaining digital radiographs, dental scaling, and obtaining vital signs
Knowledge in general Veterinary practice including preventative medications and common treatments
Willingness to follow directions, learn, and be a team player
Patient restraint and lifting of pets up to 50 lb without assistance
Be prompt, self-motivated, and organized
Ability to multi-task
Perform animal husbandry care to ensure all patients are comfortable and safe at all times
Comfortable with electronic medical record-keeping
Assist client service representatives through interacting with clientele via phone or in person
