Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

The Kennel Technician/Veterinary Assistant is responsible for the overall care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients within our hospital and boarding facility. This role plays a vital part in supporting both our medical team and our patients’ comfort and well-being.

Key responsibilities include:

Feeding, walking, medicating, and monitoring hospitalized and boarding pets
Maintaining cleanliness through daily cleaning, laundry, and bathing
Restocking hospital supplies and ensuring work areas are organized
Assisting veterinarians and technicians with restraint, examinations, and treatments
Triage of incoming patients and collection/analysis of lab samples
Performing diagnostic imaging, surgical preparation, and assisting with anesthesia and post-operative care
Monitoring and recording patient information including medications, appetite, behavior, and any changes during care
Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments as trained
This position requires the ability to work around unpleasant odors and noises and involves potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
Must be able to properly restrain pets.
Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
