Custom Shop Inc, a very busy and well-known gun restoration/repair shop nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, is looking for new talent. We are home to the Outdoor Channels “Gunfather Restorations” television series which is returning in the fall of 2022. Applicant must be very DETAIL ORIENTED, cautious, and willing to learn. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is proficient in common Gunsmith and Metalsmith skills and shows extreme care about minute details and takes pride in their work. We specialize in removing impacts, abrasions, erosion and corrosion on various metal surfaces as well as installing new parts, rebuilding, repair, restoration and rebluing gun components as needed. Knowledge in gunsmithing and abrasive papers is preferred and you should be able to file gun components without causing damage. You should be able to safely use various gunsmithing tools as well as demonstrate excellent skill using those tools. Our Craftsmen are the best in the business. No tool requirement necessary. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn is mandatory.

Assemble and Dissemble Firearms
Metal Polishing
Inspect, Clean and Lubricate Firearms
Remove Corrosion from Metal Gun Parts
Repair Damaged Guns
Add Custom or Aftermarket Parts, such as Swivels, Recoil Pads, Sights,
Scopes, Grips and Stocks.
Touch Up Engravings and Other Markings. (If Qualified)
Fit Barrels
Remove Dents, Dings, Scratches, & Pits from Metal Surfaces
Correct Headspace of Guns & Cartridges
Replace Barrels & Firing Mechanisms
Modify Pull Weight & other Trigger Mechanisms
Bluing Gun Barrels & Various Gun Components to Prevent Rusting
Proficient in using Hand Tools, Power Tools & Machinist Tools

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited gunsmith training program preferred
Sound knowledge of gun control laws and gun safety preferred
Abrasive Papers (220-2500 Grit)
Strong mechanical, woodworking, metalworking, machinist skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication skills
Must be proficient and safe in using Hand Tools, Power Tools & Machinist Tools
Ability to focus and maintain production goals despite repetitive nature of work
