Company Description
Brandon Animal Hospital is a full-service small animal practice; with capability of doing routine, emergency, and surgical procedures. We have an indoor heated and cooled boarding facility with a covered walking area for our patients. We pride ourselves on our family-like work environment where we are more like family than co-workers! Most of our staff are veteran employees who are cross-trained in all areas of the clinic. We offer boarding Monday- Sunday and treatment of animals Monday-Friday. We are open 8am-9am on Saturday mornings for boarder pick-up/ drop- offs and over the counter sales and our kennel techs come in twice daily Saturday and Sunday to walk animals being boarded with us.  We have the capability to do digital x-rays, in-house labs like bloodwork and urinalysis, routine surgeries, including laser surgeries, soft tissue, occasional bone surgeries and dentals with our state-of-the-art dental machine. We have the capability to take emergency patients in as well and hospitalize them when needed. We have 3 very determined, well-seasoned DVMs in the practice, Drs Joe Scott Houston, Melissa Thompson, and Beth Boyd. We have trained on the job technicians, welcoming receptionist, and kennel technicians to make sure pets are taken care of throughout their stay at the clinic.

We are in the heart of a small town with multiple restaurants in the area and outdoor recreational facilities available.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: 

The kennel tech is responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of our patients in the hospital and boarding facility. This job involves cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding, walking dogs, and medicating patients. You are responsible for restocking hospital supplies, helping with post-operative patients, assisting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams. You will be responsible for proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior and any issue that may arise while the animal is in our care. You may be trained to clean and sterilize surgical instruments.

We are looking for someone with:

Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
Proper methods of animal restraint.
Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
