Registered Veterinary Technician
As a veterinary technician, the primary responsibility is to support the doctors and patients. You must maintain a very high standard of patient care, respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations, and pay attention to details. It is expected that technicians will communicate well with clients, co-workers, and visitors while showing compassion and concern for their pets. Some duties include assigned technicians to specific areas of the clinic, handling and maintaining specific equipment, surgeries, and treatments for patients. It is required that all technicians maintain continuing education hours, earning 10 hours or more biannually. As a technician, it is required to assist with lifting and restraining large dogs, ICU, ISO duties, and more.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Surgery Area:
Administer and monitor anesthesia in accordance with state regulations.
Give injections in accordance with the government regulations and doctor’s orders.
Handle and perform emergency procedures.
Perform surgical preparation of patients and surgical suites.
Assist in surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and recovery of patients.
Perform blood collection, IV catheter placement, and urinary catheter placement.
Take EKG tracings, blood pressure, and cardiopet.
Take and record radiographs.
Assist with ultrasound exams.
Perform routine dental cleanings in accordance with state regulations.
Receive incoming patients and take them to appropriate areas.
Assist doctors with restraint and treatments as directed.
Collect fecal and urine samples as needed.
Maintain surgery area and surgery rooms.
Maintain surgery equipment.
Stock surgery area and surgery rooms.
Enter ALL services provided in VetRadar and EzyVet.
Make all communication notes in EzyVet for nail trims, anal glands, and any service you help with.
Help clean autoclave and surgical instruments.
Triage all types of appointments.
ICU, ISO, neonates, and more duties.
Pack Prep Area duties.
Help with go homes and tech appointments as they come up.
Rotate with floor positions daily, following the structure that has been created to the floor. ER tech, surgery tech, C-section tech
Animal Care:
Provide compassionate and outstanding care to all patients, including deceased patients.
Maintain ICU and Isolation as directed and scheduled do needed treatments.
Provide treatments as directed by doctors.
Monitor critical patients as needed or directed by doctors.
Make accurate and detailed notes about patient care in VetRadar and Ezyvet.
Fill prescriptions and prepare medications as prescribed by a doctor.
Handle emergencies calmly, promptly, efficiently, and effectively.
Provide physical therapy as directed by a doctor.
Do not lift anything 50 lbs and over by yourself.
Utilize and maintain the critical care unit oxygen chamber.
Administer chemotherapy agents in accordance with state regulations and doctor’s orders.
Miscellaneous:
Perform laboratory analysis including hematology, urinalysis, serology, and other routine duties.
Provide client education as needed.
Counsel and educate clients on numerous subjects.
Learn pharmacy duties regarding how to properly fill medications if needed and how to print labels from EzyVet if we are in a pinch and need assistance in the pharmacy.
Assist reception staff as needed in a professional and compassionate manner.
Communicate effectively and professionally in speaking and writing.
Work well with all team members and ensure your actions support the clinic, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.
Always maintain a positive and professional attitude.
Be passionate about quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Be flexible and resourceful; operate effectively in an unpredictable environment.
Attendance is required the day before and after any holiday unless otherwise approved.
Weekends, nights, emergency hours, and holidays are a part of scheduling.
Assist in training new employees at the discretion of management.
Eating is permitted in the breakroom only.
Attendance and timeliness to your scheduled shift is a requirement. If you have any scheduling conflicts, please see the Hospital Administrator or Staff Manager.
Understand and be able to explain the procedures we do.
Always demonstrate patience with clients and coworkers.
Create and participate in a drama-free working environment. Reference the “Commitment to my Coworkers” form signed at hire if you have any questions.
Clean and Stock drawers and surgery rooms.
This is a labor intense position requiring you to be on your feet 8 hours or more.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule & Availability
Full time (36 hours or more)/Part time (Less than 30 hours) – 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts
Benefits
Rate of pay begins at $25/hr – Shift Differential pay begins at $38.25/hr

Shift differential during specified scheduled ER times (Saturdays, Sundays and anytime after 9:30pm Monday through Friday til 7:30am the next day).
Associates of Applied Science Degree and RVT License (or soon to be).
