Our veterinary clinic in Indianapolis, United States, is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in providing high-quality care to our furry patients and support to their owners.
Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
Restrain and handle animals safely during examinations and treatments
Triage incoming patients and obtain medical histories from pet owners
Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal specimens
Prepare animals for surgery and monitor them during anesthesia
Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and surgical areas
Communicate effectively with pet owners about treatment plans and home care instructions
Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays and ultrasounds
Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient care
Minimum of 1 year of veterinary experience as a Veterinary Assistant
High school diploma or equivalent
Availability to work Saturdays until 1pm (required)
Demonstrated ability to properly restrain pets
Compassionate and calm demeanor when working with animals and their owners
Excellent teamwork and multitasking skills
Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
Physical stamina to stand for long periods, etc.
