JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing and assembling equipment, supplies and instruments.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
-Cleans, sterilizes and assembles equipment, supplies and instruments.
-Decontaminates surgical instruments, container syringes, surgical linen and equipment.
-Prepares packs of supplies and instruments.
-Prepares control system for supplies processed.
-Places sterilized items in proper storage area after processing.
-Performs other assigned duties as needed.
-Good mechanical aptitude, with ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
-Must have the ability to identify all surgical instruments immediately to respond to emergency situations which may develop in the Operating Room.
-Must demonstrate competence in the assembly and preparation of complex instrument trays for a variety of surgical cases and do so in a minimal amount of time during urgent or emergency procedures. (10-20 min. maximum).
Minimum requirement:
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Operating Room Technician Program Completion, Sterile Processing Program Completion, or one year post operating room/central service experience
