To be a Marine is to always move forward with tenacity towards the next battle standing in the way of our Nation’s progress, but Marines also have a long lineage of defining moments to look back on, serving as a source of immeasurable inspiration. The Marine Corps is only as capable as each and every Marine. To that end, Marines are assigned specific roles for which they are optimally trained. Each making a critical difference in a collective fight, Marines develop skills in specific Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs), and are expected to become experts in their respective fields. Together, Marines deliver the expertise our Nation demands in more than 300 disciplines, combining efforts to become a diversely talented, unwavering force. MOS training comes in many forms, including:
–Formal schools that offer college credit and graduation certificate opportunities
-On-the-job training, receiving hands-on experience from established professionals in those fields
-Advanced formal training to become an occupational field expert and learn skills for supervisory, leadership, and management roles.
Marine Corps Musicians fight for our Nation while continuing to pursue their passion for music in the Musician Enlistment Option Program. As musical ambassadors for our Nation, MEOP presents the opportunity to become a Marine and fight to advance our Nation’s ideals on the world’s stage. Here is where you will learn how to create a harmony of determination, resiliency, and talent as a Marine Musician. As a Marine Corps musician, you’ll have the opportunity to serve with one of the 10 renowned Marine Corps bands throughout the world. Leadership roles within the bands include Bandmasters, Small Ensemble Leaders, Enlisted Conductors, Drum Majors, and Instrument Repair Technicians. Also available is the opportunity to be a part of The Commandant’s Own Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, based in Washington, D.C.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-You must obtain your high school diploma and be a legal U.S. resident between 17 and 28.
